Social Justice Statement

America is known for its freedom, American rights, and justice. The main social justice issue the GLBT faces is the lack of rights, freedom, and justice. GLBT members are denied the American right to be married, and receive the benefits that come along with being married, GLBT members are denied the right to serve as an openly gay man or women is the U.S. military, and GLBT members are facing an ongoing battle to receive the justice they deserve. With changing times and changing people the American government also needs to change. Where would we be without adaptation in America? If it wasn’t for change women wouldn’t have the right to vote, African Americans would still be forced to endure racism, and now it’s time to make another change.

If a person is willing to sacrifice their live for our country and protect our freedoms shouldn’t we repay them by giving them the simple rights that every American deserves, being able to serve and be who they are without fear of harassment, or discharge? Love is love and if a loving couple in the United States would like to share their love and make it legal, shouldn’t they be able to no matter their gender? Shouldn’t all youth be able to attend school without resorting to suicide because they feel there is no other way to escape the harassment? Times are changing, and it is time to make a social change that will benefit everyone. Were on our way but we still have a long way to go.
